Cloud Long pendant light – vertical light sculpture by Candela Cort for LZF Lamps
A vertically elongated cloud of mesh fabric and light – handmade in the LZF manufactory in Valencia. The Cloud Lang Pendant Light is the tall version of the cloud-shaped Cloud family by LZF Lamps. At 150 cm high, the soft mesh shade becomes a floating, almost architectural Pendant Light, which comes into its own above all in high rooms, stairwells, atriums and lobbies. Inside sits a transparent acrylic diffuser that distributes the integrated LED light softly outwards.
Every Cloud Long is individually modelled in Valencia. The distribution of folds and volume in the fabric is never identical – making the light both a functional light source and a sculptural one-off with an unmistakable silhouette.
Design & inspiration
Cloud is Candela Cort’s poetic translation of a cloud into an object for the home. While the Short version floats more horizontally, the Long version emphasises the vertical: it stretches the cloud motif, creates tension between ceiling and floor and responds particularly beautifully to high rooms. Precisely where many pendant lights look lost, the Cloud Long unfolds its effect as an airy, white-glowing vertical sculpture.
The inspiration is clearly recognisable – rising mist, a cumulus cloud, a piece of sky indoors. The impression is reinforced by the fact that the mesh volume has no hard edges: from every angle you see a slightly different shape.
The designer – Candela Cort
Candela Cort is a Spanish designer based in Valencia whose work is characterised by an unusual combination of sculpture, textile and light. Instead of strictly geometric forms, she looks for organic, often poetic images – clouds, swarms, waves. With the two families Cloud and Candela she has designed two of the most atmospherically extraordinary lights in the collection for LZF Lamps. Both live from the interplay of translucency, drapery and the acrylic diffuser inside, which carries the LED light softly outwards.
Material & workmanship – the LZF manufactory
Unlike LZF’s typical wood veneer lights, Cloud consists of a white, water-resistant mesh fabric combined with a transparent Acrylic-Diffusor inside. In the manufactory in Valencia, the mesh fabric is stretched over a flexible inner structure and modelled by hand into an individual, cloud-like silhouette. The fine folds and volumes are not created industrially but by the hands of the manufactory’s staff – which is why every Cloud is a one-off with its own shape.
When switched off, the shade looks like a floating, quiet sculpture in warm white. When switched on, the acrylic diffuser distributes the integrated LED light softly outwards – the mesh is illuminated without glare and gives the room a diffuse, calm light. The black metal canopy and black coaxial cable form a deliberately understated counterpoint to the textile volume.
Like all LZF lights, Cloud is made in the brand’s own manufactory in Valencia. Production is designed for durability and repairability.
Use & effect
Cloud Long is the light for high rooms: stairwells spanning two or three floors, double-height living rooms, atriums, hotel lobbies, prestigious reception areas or open gallery spaces. Its effect depends on the fact that it does not hang above a table but floats freely in the room – the 150 cm height gives it the necessary scale.
It is also a clear recommendation in individual, very high living spaces (period buildings, lofts, atriums): as a central light object above a seating area or in the entrance. The dimmable LED light always remains soft and glare-free – the light does not compete with the room but complements it as a calm, glowing presence.
Several Cloud models at different heights can be staggered very atmospherically in a stairwell or above a spiral staircase. A combination of Cloud Kurz and several Long shades in the same lighting installation also works very well in design terms.
Cloud Lang vs. Cloud Kurz
The Cloud family comprises two sizes with an identical material and light language, but a very different spatial effect:
- Cloud Lang (this light): approx. 30–55 cm diameter × H 150 cm – vertically elongated cloud shape. Ideal for high rooms, stairwells and atriums.
- Cloud Kurz: approx. 30–55 cm diameter × H 100 cm – more compact, rather horizontal version. Ideal above a dining table, coffee table or kitchen island.
Both models are technically identical and differ only in height – they can be used individually or in combination.

Über LZF Lamps – Manufaktur aus Valencia
LZF Lamps was founded in Valencia in 1994 and is today one of the most important manufactory studios for designer lights in Europe. LZF became known above all for its characteristic lights made of thin, translucent wood veneer – complemented by experimental families such as Cloud, in which LZF deliberately uses other materials such as textile mesh or acrylic. What all models have in common is the handcrafted production in Valencia and collaboration with international designers such as Burkhard Dämmer, Ray Power, Mariví Calvo, Isidro Ferrer and Candela Cort.
More about the manufactory and all designs on the official website of LZF Lamps.
At Designort you will find a curated selection of around 100 LZF lights – from small solitaires such as Tiny to large light sculptures such as Dandelion or the cloud-shaped models of The Cloud family.
