Floral 40 cm bamboo pendant light by David Trubridge

When the Floral pendant light shines, the room is full of patterns, even though nothing moves.

The light comes from New Zealand designer David Trubridge. Its striking, round shade is made of many small bamboo segments. The light falls between them and draws a lively pattern of light and shadow on walls and ceilings.

The mood it creates also depends on the colour of the inside of the shade: green looks fresh and cool, while orange feels warm and cosy. Orange is therefore particularly suitable for living rooms and bedrooms.

Unlike many lights, the Floral is delivered unassembled. This is not a flaw but part of the concept: David Trubridge wants people to connect with his light – and to help shape part of it by assembling it themselves. Allow around 40 to 60 minutes for assembly. A video tutorial makes assembly much easier.
