Arabesco pendant light – sculptural wood veneer designer light by LZF Lamps Valencia

Curved elegance in real wood and gold, made in the LZF manufactory in Valencia. Die Arabesco Pendant Light von LZF Lamps is a handmade Pendant Light made of thin, translucent wood veneer, carried by a delicate structure in gold. By day it is a sculptural design object with a lively grain and arabesque lines – switched on, it transforms into a warmly glowing light sculpture that bathes any room in filtered, very cosy light.

With a diameter of around 68 cm, the Arabesco is an expressive solitaire light – an eye-catcher above the dining table, in the entrance hall or in a spacious living room. The matching light bulb is already included.

Design & inspiration – contemporary, yet rooted in tradition

The name Arabesco refers to the arabesque – the artfully intertwined ornament of tendrils, rhythm and geometry. Here Bodo Sperlein draws on the artistic heritage of the Moorish era and its influence on Spanish design, which is still formative today. From layered sheets of wood veneer, he creates a light that combines movement, ornament and handcrafted elegance: organically flowing arches that come together to form a light, almost floating shade. The warm gold structure frames the veneer and adds an elegant, decorative accent – by day and in the evening. Contemporary yet rooted in tradition, Arabesco is a luminous statement of material, culture and refined form.

The designer – Bodo Sperlein

Bodo Sperlein is a London-based designer known for his precisely crafted, sculptural style and his feel for high-quality materials. He has designed several acclaimed collections for LZF Lamps – including the sculptural Osca and the Art Deco-inspired Voliere. His designs consistently explore the possibilities of wood veneer and combine artistic form with functional clarity. With Arabesco, he adds an ornamental, almost jewel-like light to the LZF collection.

Material & workmanship – the LZF manufactory

The wood veneer used is only a few tenths of a millimetre thin – so thin that the light of the lamp shines through it and makes the natural grain of the wood visible to everyone. Behind this seemingly simple effect lies an elaborate in-house process: the veneer sheets are pressed, hardened, cut and shaped using the characteristic LZF technique. Every step is done by hand, making each shade unique.

LZF uses wood veneer from FSC-certified sources. The natural white finish lets the fine grain shine through particularly delicately, while the gold metal structure provides a warm, elegant contrast. When switched on, the shade turns into a warm, vibrant light source – not a glaring point of light, but a filtered, very cosy light.

The Arabesco is made in one veneer finish: Natural white CHW 23. See for yourself how the light transforms when switched off (OFF) and on (ON) – switched off, a delicate, light design object; switched on, a warmly glowing light sculpture.

Use & effect

The Arabesco pendant light comes into its own above the dining table (suspension height approx. 70–90 cm above the table edge), above a kitchen island or as a central light in the living room and entrance hall. With its diameter of around 68 cm, it makes a real statement as a solitaire. Thanks to the light bulb supplied as standard (LED, dimmable, 3000 K), it is ready to use immediately and provides a cosy, warm white light.
