Design & inspiration

The Mini Chou Cordless is the rechargeable, portable battery table lamp by Yonoh Creative Studio – inspired by the traditional Japanese chōchin lantern. With its compact form (Ø 13.5 × H 26 cm), integrated dimmer and 8 hours of battery life, it is the ideal companion for the terrace, dinner, bedroom or on the go. USB-C charging cable included. Available in 10 wood veneer colours.

The designer – Yonoh Creative Studio

Yonoh Creative Studio is the Valencia-based design studio of Clara del Portillo and Alex Selma. For LZF they design lights with a reduced, elegant design language and a fine sense of proportion – including the cordless Mini Chou Cordless, Stitches, Kactos and Osca.

Material & workmanship – the LZF manufactory

The wood veneer used is only a few tenths of a millimetre thin – so thin that the light of the lamp shines through it and makes the natural grain of the wood visible to everyone. Behind this seemingly simple effect lies an elaborate in-house process: the veneer sheets are pressed, hardened, cut and shaped using the characteristic LZF technique. Every step is done by hand, making each shade unique.

LZF uses wood veneer from FSC-certified sources. The coloured veneers are dyed with lightfast, low-solvent stains, so the wood stays alive and breathable. When switched on, the shade turns into a warm, vibrant light source – not a glaring point of light, but a filtered, very cosy light.

Use & effect

The Mini Chou Cordless Table Lamp is the ideal feel-good light on a bedside table, sideboard, console or desk. It is also a very atmospheric light source in the living room as an accent light next to the sofa.

Available in 10 wood veneers

Each shade is made in Valencia from real wood veneer in true manufactory tradition – no two pieces are alike. Choose your favourite in the drop-down below:

About LZF Lamps – wood veneer from Valencia

LZF Lamps is a Spanish manufactory from Valencia, founded in 1994 by Mariví Calvo and Sandro Tothill. From a small workshop, LZF has grown into one of the world’s most renowned wood veneer manufactories for designer lights. The lights are still made entirely in Valencia to this day – each shade is unique, shaped by the individual grain of the wood.

More about the manufactory and all designs on the official website of LZF Lamps.

The heart of every LZF product is the ultra-thin wood veneer, prepared using a special in-house technique. It is cut, folded by hand, pressed and joined – without templates, without automated lines. This manufacturing method allows exceptional freedom of form and ensures that the material retains its natural character: warm grain, slight colour variations and the unmistakable vibrancy of real wood.

LZF lights are handmade in Valencia (Spain). Every piece is designed to last – the opposite of interchangeable mass-produced goods.
