Guijarro Medium Wall Light – wood veneer designer light by LZF Lamps Valencia

Sculptural elegance in real wood, made in the LZF manufactory in Valencia. Die Guijarro Medium Wall Light von LZF Lamps is a handmade Pendant Light made of thin, translucent wood veneer. By day it is a sculptural design object with a lively grain – switched on, it transforms into a warmly glowing light sculpture that bathes any room in filtered, very cosy light.

Guijarro Medium is the medium version of Mariví Calvo’s pebble-shaped wall and ceiling light. Inspired by smoothly polished river stones, it creates a calm, organic light composition individually or in a multiple cluster.

Design & inspiration

The Guijarro family by Mariví Calvo is a pebble-shaped family of wall and ceiling lights – inspired by smoothly polished river stones. The three sizes Small, Medium and Large form a harmonious, organic composition individually or in a cluster, giving any room visual interest and calm.

The designer – Mariví Calvo

Mariví Calvo is co-founder of LZF Lamps and has shaped the design language and brand identity in Valencia since the manufactory was founded in 1994. She is responsible for numerous family designs and stands for a calm, balanced design language with a high feel-good factor.

Material & workmanship – the LZF manufactory

The wood veneer used is only a few tenths of a millimetre thin – so thin that the light of the lamp shines through it and makes the natural grain of the wood visible to everyone. Behind this seemingly simple effect lies an elaborate in-house process: the veneer sheets are pressed, hardened, cut and shaped using the characteristic LZF technique. Every step is done by hand, making each shade unique.

LZF uses wood veneer from FSC-certified sources. The coloured veneers are dyed with lightfast, low-solvent stains, so the wood stays alive and breathable. When switched on, the shade turns into a warm, vibrant light source – not a glaring point of light, but a filtered, very cosy light.

Use & effect

The Guijarro Medium wall light works in the hallway, next to the bed, next to mirrors or as a companion light for seating areas – an architecturally integrated point of light that also creates a homely atmosphere.

Available in 10 wood veneers

Each shade is made in Valencia from real wood veneer in true manufactory tradition – no two pieces are alike. Choose your favourite in the drop-down below:

About LZF Lamps – wood veneer from Valencia

LZF Lamps is a Spanish manufactory from Valencia, founded in 1994 by Mariví Calvo and Sandro Tothill. From a small workshop, LZF has grown into one of the world’s most renowned wood veneer manufactories for designer lights. The lights are still made entirely in Valencia to this day – each shade is unique, shaped by the individual grain of the wood.

More about the manufactory and all designs on the official website of LZF Lamps.

The heart of every LZF product is the ultra-thin wood veneer, prepared using a special in-house technique. It is cut, folded by hand, pressed and joined – without templates, without automated lines. This manufacturing method allows exceptional freedom of form and ensures that the material retains its natural character: warm grain, slight colour variations and the unmistakable vibrancy of real wood.

LZF lights are handmade in Valencia (Spain). Every piece is designed to last – the opposite of interchangeable mass-produced goods.
